Why aren’t your shapes CE marked?
Little Brown Dog Workshop sells unfinished craft shapes which are art and craft materials rather than toys, as they can be used for all sorts of purposes.
For a craft shape to become a toy it needs to be decorated, finished, packaged and tested, and it would be the completed toy that would need to demonstrate compliance with the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 and be CE marked.
Our craft components are covered by the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 which means:
- They must be safe
- We give customers information about the shapes so they can assess the risks in using them and take reasonable precautions. This means displaying warnings where appropriate.
- We ensure our products are traceable - at the moment we send this information on paper with each parcel
As the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 are just that – general – we sometimes apply different regulations or standards where they are more specific and ensure we comply with those instead.
